I am in the process of remodeling our kitchen, in an 1890 brace framed (I think) house. On one of the exterior walls, the bottem sill (8″ x 8″) and the stone foundation moved outwards about 2″ sometime ago. (When FDR was gov. of NY) The first floor joists, which run perpendicular, sagged down about an inch as they were no longer supported in the notches in the sill. I have jacked up those joists, and now want to pull in the sill the 2″.
Does anyone have any advice or experience with such a job? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Rick

Rick - ...you say the sill AND the foundation moved 2" and now you want to move the sill back? Are you sayin' that the wall above the sill is 2" out of plumb? Can you tell, or do you know, what caused the sill/foundation to move? Can you give a little more info? - jb
