I’m attempting my first p-lam counter & need some help. I understand the basics of using a particleboard base & contact cement to put the laminate down.
Q1 – What prevents water from getting behind the laminate? Seems to me that joints and edges would be likely to wick up water (particleboard’s worst enemy). How do I prevent this (other than minimizing the number of edges)?
Q2 – Is particleboard the best base? 2 layers of 5/8″ adequate?
Q3 – Should I be using a router to trim the edges nice and neat? Can you also file the stuff?
Q4 – Any other tips for making the job come out nicely?
Thanks to all who help out.
