We are about to build a river-rock wall behind a woodstove. I need the mix proportions for grouting between the rocks. I think I remember that the mix should have sand, cement, lime. Is that right. If so, which type of cement and what are the proportions? Thanks.

Aren't you using portland cement? You can use regular grout over that when it dries. The only thing that's concern me is how hot it gets by the stove.
Another thought too would be to add cement coloring to the portland.
Seems like you'll only need a little so why not buy bags of ready mix and then just add the coloring. You can get it at any mason supply yard.

I did river rock around my fireplace and used the ready mix. IIRC I used the same cement for all phases of the install. IF you are using faux, the manufacturer should send along detailed installation instructions. If you are using faux, and haven't installed it yet let me know. I have a few tips that can save you some headaches.
