Need Recommendation for Floor Refinis…

| Posted in General Discussion on August 2, 2000 02:56am

Hi. I’m looking for a recommendation for a repetualbe floor refinisher in Northern MA/Southern NH (or who will do work in this area).

Basically, I might need a wooden Mill Floor (condo) redone (it is currently carpeted — and another discussion)

Thank you. Appreciate the help.

Betsey

    Daisy:

Try Jeff at floorboards.com as he's located outside Boston and has been in the business for over forty years. He'll probably have a few names for you.

*Ken, weren't you associated in some way with Hoskings? I seem to recall some thread along that line...

*Betsey, email sent to you on this subject... your location, and I could recommend non-affiliated sources for your research.-G

*George:Affiliated? Not really. I just help out from time to time on his floorboards flooring forum. If you can provide some references the better and it seems like you may be closer to Betsey? Besides, Jeff doesn't really have the time to travel that far.

*Good answer (first part). We'll see... her email address bounced.

*Hah. I went to the website Ken posted, it had a picture of NORM holding his beer gut!

          3. Guest_ | Jul 30, 2000 11:28pm | #7

*Mad Dog:LOL. Norm does have a gut but I think it's from good living. I've never met the man personally and he has really built a name for himself as he and others were in the right place at the right time when TOH started..basically the first home improvement program on the air in the late 70's.George: I am not affliated with Jeff Hosking as I have never met him as well but I have spoken to him several times on the phone and through AOL instant messenger. We got together a few years ago at floorsearch.com and other flooring forums. I'm a subcontractor in Florida and Jeff owns and maintains a personal business in Mass. besides his entry into selling off the internet.I suppose I was rather bold when I found this place and suggested Jeff's site, but where else can one find first hand hardwood flooring advice? Sure he's selling products but have you checked into the floorboards forum?I spend my time there for the benefit of people confused about HW flooring applications, though I've held back of late for reasons of repitious(sp) questions. Here I go again ..if you get to floorboards.com and the forum..please search through the site for related questions.George? What's your beef?

*Ken, if I had my choice? Filet. With a Marchand de Vin sauce. Rare.Served with Asparagus and a Wild Mushroom Pilaf. Red wine of course.

          5. Guest_ | Jul 31, 2000 11:20pm | #9

*Ah rare? Yepper my choice, but mine would be a good sized porterhouse, large tossed salad, baked potatoes and some freshly picked corn on the cob. Forget the wine...beer naturally. This discussion should go to the tavern. Toss some mushrooms in there too:)

Well, thanks for the help. Now, how were those steaks?

*George:Hello. Yes, I did receive your email, and I believe I replied. However, any and all recommendations on reputable floor folks are most welcome.I got stung by an HVAC bozo earlier this year, so all recs are most welcome.Appreciate the help.Betsey
