Im wanting to lay tile directly against plywood in an entryway and dont have time to check archives (I know,I know) will check back in couple of hours ( Im at jobsite now) for what tipe of mortar or mastic to use. I always try to use some sort of backerboard but space requirements wont allow this time. Trying not to cut out the floor.

Spray foam is a great invention, but it's not always necessary.

*Thanks guys, I did'nt know the name of the stuff but remember the thread on the tile popping....I'm on my way to get some!
*Thanks guys! On my way.
*Epoxy for plywood. Thinset won't grab very well as to the wood, and wood and the thinset will expand at different rates, so you need a very, very strong bond. That is why Expoxy is probably the only choice.
*Chris! don't know if you'll get this in time- USE BONSAL tm. MULTI PURPOSE THIN SET. specifically states on bag use over plywood. I posted the tile problem and relaid with this product. NO PROBLEMS
