I was lucky enought to get a 3HP single phase table saw for Christmas. Only catch now is installing a 220V outlet. I have a 200 amp panel, and plenty of breaker space. I only plan on being in this house for another year however, and so I’m considering running the circuit in metal clad flex (clipped to basement ceiling joists temporarily) so I can remove it easily and re-install in my new house/shop eventually.
I would appreciate any input on the following:
-What size wire would I need for a 50′ run to panel?
-cost-wise…am I better off installing a 220 outlet right next to the panel and buying/making a heavy duty extension cord?
Thanks!
