In a back issue Fine Homebuilding a reader asked how to prevent moisture stains on their T&G ceiling for an exterior porch. The writer answered by detailing the proper vapor barrier and by using sleepers so that any moisture accumulation in the rafter plenum would not make it to the T&G.
I can’t find that detail in the Archives.
What is the best way to do the following ceiling installation????????
My customer has a similar instance. They have an enclosed 12×24 3 season room w/ hot tub (moisture from within the room) a hip roof w/o ceiling joists with painted 2×8 rafter, 5/8 sheathing underneath asphalt shingles all in excellent condition. They want me to put in the T&G ceiling as well as insulation and the proper vapor barrier. I’ll will encapsulate all 6 sides of the T&G before install. This is for a great customer, I do not want to disappoint!.
I appreciate your help.
