Few people understand it. Nobody agrees what it is, how to learn about it, or who's responsible for it. It has never been more important

*Virginia - Have you checked for "Demolition Contractors" in the local phone book?
*You might want to seriously consider leaving it in place, and maybe removing the door. You can use it for an office, or sunday school room, or something. The reason I say this is because I have a good friend that demo's large buildings, and banks are a common thing for him. They go in and tear out everything (salvage what they can), and the very last thing removed is the vault. I mean EVERYTHING is gone, except the vault. No walls, no roof, no nothing. Just vault. Then he brings in an 18 wheeler and a large crane. He lifts the vault, and hoists it onto the flatbed of the 18 wheeler. The vault is also one of the very first things installed in a bank building when it is built. For a company to come in and "remove" the vault will call for a tremendous amount of damage to the building in order to get it out.James DuHamel
*I think I would leave it also, just remove the door. If it is adjacent to the sanctuary, you could install a speaker and use it for a "crying room" for babies. I am sure the sound would never reach the congregation.
*Good place for a daycare!Watched one being taken out in a Hartford demolition. You will damage the building, best to utilize the space as you can
*Another good reason to leave it in place is that depending on it's age, it may not be "solid" concrete. It is very possible that a space was created and filled with friable asbestos (the bad kind) this is an abatement job that can run thousands if the building is left standing. Just a thought, good luck.
*Tezor,I hate to bring this up, but this thread is so old that the safe could have removed itself by now. Heck, this thread was started well over a year ago.Pete
*Still like my idea to use it as a day care.
