I read with great interest today that Los Angeles will enact a new Code Rule that mandates that new construction must include a roof and parking lot runoff system for rainwater that captures the rainwater into a filitration system before expelling it into storm drains.
The proposed Code requires that the first 1/2″ or so of runoff be captured and placed into a mechanical filitration device or natural filtration system such as a vegetation slough. This will keep gasolene, tar oils chemicals that stick to roofs and parking lots from ending up in the ocean.
The Code is apparently in force in a couple other states, such as Arizona, and I was wondering if anyone out there has any experience in constructing building under this rule.
