After having just moved out of the lovely state of NJ to the tropics of PA, (Pocono area), I have to make some furniture to fill out our new home, (darn!). So I have been hoping for years to have an opportunity to buy the “new” Akeda dovetail jig. When I wanted to buy it a year or so ago, the factory had burned down! So I went to the Woodcraft website today and find that the jig and the accessory kit are on sale for $399. The girl at Woodcraft didn’t even know they had marked it down. So if any of you have given it a second thought, you might want to take a look now. I can’t wait to try it out.

I've read some good things about it but that wont help you much.
You might also post this over at Knots, probably get more response.

I teach classes from time to time at a local Woodcraft store. I asked the store's owner about the Akeda jig a while back. He said to avoid it, that they were having problems with it. Seems like you can't fine tune the fit of the dovetails like you can with Leigh jig. He said they were going to take it off the market for a while and then revamp and put it back out on the market.
Don't know if the one you're talking about is the new and improved version.

I'm not sure either! I know that there were some terrific reviews when it first came out. Hopefully they have adjusted those problems.
good idea.
