New HVAC just installed- Are these nits?
As a Homeowner I just had a new 3 ton American standard Heat pump put in our office. $5000. Company is a good company and has showed up quick on two past occasions when we needed service- been in business 20+ years.
These things are minor- do I mention them to the salesman/job leader or just “let it go” as nits- they showed up on time on the day they said and installed it all in about 6 hours.
Problems / items are:
1. when the guy brazed the freon tubing to the indoor air handler he globbed flux on our new one year old carpet where the door to the air handler closet is. the hot flux of course melted the carpet. it just barely shows out from under the door like an inch. they used a drop cloth from the front door to the closet but did not use a drop cloth in the closet. we talked about the new carpet and the drop cloths before the job.
2. the air handler is in the closet in a way that if there was 1/8 inch less room you could not get the filter in place- as it is now you have to bend the filter just a touch, but it goes in. The job leader told the mechanic about that, but was not there when they set the air handler in place.
3. the thermostat came with 20 ft of wire on it and the left it all just laying in the closet, rather than tying it off or shortening it. I wrapped it to the power cable with some rubber tape.
How do you tell the job leader salesman about these without “stinking up ” future service calls? Naturally the guy that did the brazing is “one of their better guys” etc.
Should I say an over all good job but these are a few nits?

The installer sounded very careless about details.
Since you brought up some of the points in question b/4 the job was started, I think you should do this "good company" the favor of bringing up the problems as you see them. Otherwise, they might transition into a "pretty good company".
A great place for Information, Comraderie, and a sucker punch.

thats what the punch list is for. no complaints, just ask the job leader to punch list before final payment.
MY opinion... you paid top price and they are your company of choice... i think they need to leave you whole... ie... fix the problems...
pretty simple deal... u can either call em out & SHOW THEM... not something you should have to do (their quality control)
or you can just tell them what you expect... clean up, fix my carpet, fix the filter problem and fix the wires... and thank you so much for your service on this and future work... I'm guess'n they'n be more worried they'd lose you vs u them...
