I have a customer (80 year old lady who is tired of painting her porch railings every few years) who wants me to replace her wooden porch rails with a new material.
What I have found is the CAREFREE SYSTEM made from recycled plastic. The local lumberyard describes it as vinyl. It is solid, feels similar to Trex, and is white in colour.
Does any one have experience with it? Any failures known?
How ’bout installation? The literature is pretty vacant, it feels too slippery for glues or caulks to hold. Getting code load resistance at post joints seems questionable to me. It is supposed to machine and hold together with screws just like wood.
