http://www.conted.vt.edu/wood-design/index.html
we will be spending 6 hours designing an example house with the new ANSI/AP&PA WFCM-2001 Wood Frame Construction Manual for One-and-Two Family Dwellings.
For another 4 hours, we will be covering the NDS and wood truss design, primarily of interest to engineers and truss people. Then the last 4 hours will be spent on:
design of decks (structural)
designing wood joist floors to support ceramic tile
truss bracing
wind loading design for traditional timber-frame construction with SIPs , and
repair of residential floor trusses from the top only.
We will have a “full” two days. Frank Woeste, Professor, Virginia Tech, Blacksburg
