Found out about this place in another forum, so hopped over and registered.

I retired from being a utility company automotive mechanic 3&1/2 years ago—-got lucky and split at 55.

Learned home building basics while volunteering with a local HfH chapter and doing some punch list repairing. So, started a one man wrecking—-er—-remodeling company 5 years ago as a part time keep me out of LOML’s hair kinda thing. The two or three day a week kinda thing.

Yeah, right. Worked six days last week—and the week before that—-(sigh)

Took three days off for sore back muscles this week.

So there ya go.

Well that's a good start on a nice intro.  Now ... where are you?

I'm sorry, I thought you wanted it done the right way.

Click on your own name in blue, and you should get your Profile editing page.  It will let you put in all sorts of info (some of the Profiles have less and more for content <g>).

We need to keep a close watch on this guy.He doesn't even know where he is.He thinks that he is in a suburb of KC, Kansas, while everyone knows that it is a suburb of KC, MO.But what do you expect from someone that lives on the left side of the stateline.Welcome Mac.

            Hey Bill,

Since they unified the government of WyCo and KCK are there even technically suburbs of KCK? I thought Edwardsville was a trailer park by the river but wadda I know?

          2. Mac2 | Jun 29, 2005 11:26pm | #7

Blame Bill----he is the one from whom I heard about this place.Oh, BTW, I live in that trailer park by the river----and there is a whole lotta houses being built in this burg---but we manage to keep that fact under the radar. :)Man! I gotta get used to not having smilies.

            ROAR!

I once went to one of those rolling tool shows where they rent a hall for a day and then move on.

I thought I'd get three cheap identical thermometers to survey the three levels of the house.

As I was waiting at the semitrailer where they keep the supplies, I was given the 3 thermometers as they went to get some other stuff.

I had them laying on the semi floor at chest height when I looked down at them to see three different temperature readings.

They always sell such goodshid at those shows.

            be taken

while everyone knows that it is a suburb of KC, MO

Now, it was not that long ago that "everybody" knew only hoodlums, criminals, hobos, and polititicians lived on the "red leg" side of the river . . .

The revitalization of KCM has been fascinating to watch at this distance (if abetted with some eyes on the far side of KCK).

I'm just wondering if the gavel drivers will give us hats if we point out there's a companion magazine to go with the forum . . . <g>Occupational hazard of my occupation not being around (sorry Bubba)

handy to light a fire under Kid CAG's butt

Well, KC is closer than either you or I to Chi-town, since that was where he was 'sposed to wind up.  If he has not moved, it's still a peice away from KC, if I recall my KS geography correctly.

That, and poor Mac has already lived a life entire, only to retire to 6 day weeks.  You want to put him to work ridin herd on Neil too . . . Occupational hazard of my occupation not being around (sorry Bubba)

          21. leftisright | Jun 29, 2005 11:58pm | #13

Well if he's still in Lawrence, he's a good ways from KC, call it a half hour and a bastion of liberal sentiment as well.

he's gone from Chi-town sometime back and in Lawrence again....

so KC is way closer than either of us...

besides calvin wants me to pick him up on my way thru to Riverfest..

somebody's gotta get him ready to roll...

Actuall it is KCK that has been really booming. With the Nascar track and a bunch of developement around that. But that is closer to Edwardsville than KCK downtown. But the KC MO downtown area is starting to move. They are building a new area. And they have plans for whole bunch of "stuff" that has been talked about for the last 10 years. But it looks like they are getting closer to doing it.And there are a number of loft conversions that are going on.

And there are a number of loft conversions that are going on

Which will be excelelnt work for the trades, even if the recent scuttlebutt is nattering on how the real estate has not been as good an "investment" as some wanted/suggested/prognosticated.

My memories of DT KCM were somewhat tainted by the ground guides suggesting a good use for downtown (be about 84 or so) would be the just fence is off and call it a prison (uniformed pd can be so cynical . . . )Occupational hazard of my occupation not being around (sorry Bubba)
