Hello
I’m replacing the rug on my steps with nice wood treads and risers. The problem is the stair treads have the wedges glued in. Is there a clean way of pulling them with out firing up my Sawzall and cutting the whole mess out.
As a bonus I have a wife and three teen age daughters with the bathroom on the secound floor.
Minimal down time is a big factor
Thanks
Malcolm

Hi Jeff
Yes they are. The fact that they are glued in place invloves possible damage to the wood surface when removed.
Looks like standard PVA glue

If it's PVA, you can usually soften the glue with a heat gun. Still no treat, but . . .

If down time is a big factor, then the best bet is probably to build new stairs. I'd have the unit made and ready to go, remove the old, and drop in the new. Tearing apart wedged stairs isn't easy, fast, or fun.

Sometimes you just need to hear the truth. Making new stairs might just be the best way
