Hey all,
I’ve plumbed a several sinks and never had a problem. Till now.
Bought a delta bathroom faucet. The sink is kida artsy–no overflow.
When I started installing the drain I noticed that I couldn’t crank the big nut/washer tight against the sink bottom. So I jerry-rigged a big arse washer but it’s leaking.
Did a little research and found a “no overflow” style of drain. Guessing it allows the nut to thread up further. Called the supply house (not big box)to ask and the guy acted like I was nuts.
Am I?

I recently helped a friend with his new undermount bath sink...
no overflow and the clamping nut on the drain had JUST enough threads for a seal.
I believe it's a bad idea to remove that safety drain.

Well no overflow is a bit worisome , but many sinks are built in this way these days. Even the big bad boxes will have such drains if you are willing to endure the pain of giong there.
Nah, I'm a good half inch away. Not too worried about not having an overflow. It's in a small powder room that won't get much use. First floor, too.Todd
Kitchen sinks don't have overflows - wonder how we progressed into having them in bathroom lavatories ?

A double kitchen sink DOES have an overflow...
when one side is full, the water overflows to the other side's drain.A La Carte Government funding... the real democracy.
Hey! No hijacks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Still waiting for some comments on the "no overflow" drain option!!!!!LOL, Todd
A year or so ago I installed a copper sink with no overflow & that's really thin -- the nut had to screw up almost all the way to the flange. I got the drain kit from Lowes, IIRC. Or maybe HD. But it was one of the boxes.
BTW, the "no overflow" drain is way different besides just being threaded all the way. It does not have the slotted inlets under the flange -- just a solid pipe all the way up. So those slots may well be the source of your leak.
