The first Northern Tools is opening Friday In Orlando. Anyone have any input on the stores? I think they’ll be the only place locally that sells Milwaukee tools. Is it worth fighting the traffic on Black Friday to do a little Christmas shopping for myself? 🙂

You don't have Sears or Home Depot there? They both sell Milwaukee tools. Get on the Northern mailing list when you go. Be choosy when you buy things- they don't have the best prices on everything.

We do but I haven't shopped either for some time. Have a personal beef with Sears & won't shop there anymore. There is a Lowes very close to me so I usually just head there & get my lumber at a local private company mostly.
Thanks for the info everyone. I think I'll wait & then go have a look & get a catalog. I need to tell Santa what I'd like for ChristmasBobbi
I have the 18V NiCad hammer drill and CS, which has been great. A friend of mine just replaced his DeWalt stuff with a Milwaukee 28V Li-Ion kit and he really likes it. I know an engineer at Milwaukee Tool and bought mine through him- when I went to pick it up, the 28V stuff hadn't quite been released yet and there were two 2x12s leaning against the wall of the engineering building with 66 holes in each 2-9/16" from one of their self-feeding bits (I had to wait, so I counted them). They bored one hole after another with no waiting, one battery for each board, with power to spare. They can collect data from the chip inside for charge state, over-voltage, temperature extremes, etc so they used those boards during testing.

Northern is a good store to have. They sell a lot of cheap junk, but some good stuff too, and things that lots of other places don't carry. If you're a toolie you can end up spending an hour there easy, browsing.
Pick up a catalog when you're there.
They also have a store opening in Melbourne, Florida if that would be closer for you.
Northern Tool started in my area, so there are lots of stores.
I would describe them as a step above Harbor Freight. Lots of cheap hand tools, not so much for portable power tools, few stationary tools, but then lots of specialized items not easily available elsewhere -- like parts for go-carts, trailers.
Quick look-see thru their catalog will tell you if they have items that would be worth fighting that traffic.
