Helped a guy carefully remove laminate backsplash and then he returned to tile the backsplash and counter. Had to match what he’d done earlier on the other side of the kitchen. BUT, the grout he used is no longer made, the tiles now come in matte and shiny, but the old ones were sort of in-between. I don’t know how to get around such problems except to tell customers when they remodel a room to do the whole thing at once, or buy enough now to do the rest later!

Sphere's about to buy a sandblaster. Probably needs something to practice on. <G>
PAHS Designer/Builder- Bury it!
Or, before they do it, find out if they can still get the same tile and grout.
Yup. BTDT. Even on my own house.
Put a brand new roof on when I bought 13 years ago. Knowing I planned on adding to the house somewhere down the line, I chose a popular shingle by Bird. (Biggest manufacturer in the area at the time)
Put an addition on the house five years ago. Not only is the shingle no longer available, the manufacturer closed up shop.
Nobody else makes anything even close.

So what'd you do? When it stormed before my bread was baked, I fixed a few boards over the fire, and sat under them to watch my loaf, and passed some pleasant hours in that way.-Thoreau's Walden

On a hill by the harbour
Well....even the closest "matches" to the original looked like horrible attempts at a match. So I decided to go with a completely different color that would at least compliment the existing shingles. Luckily, the two roofs meet only breifly, very high up, and mostly obstructed from view by trees from the street.
I know its there.....and MY eye is drawn to it immediately.....but I doubt most casual observers ever even notice.
The problem will arise when I put the porch on. One roof directly above the other, with no way to hide the different shingles.
Hey.....maybe I'll hit the lottery in the meantime and just have the entire house reroofed.
