a totally new way to rout laminate on countertops……you just rout till you hit a wall and stop! I ask the guy what he was going to do with the un-routed part and he said he would file it! I nominate this one for the first entry in the breaktime “Hall of Shame”!!

Allen- I hope you aren't paying this guy buy the hour. That's alot of filing to do. Bob
*now that's custom!!
*Allen, maybe the guys an artist, who knows maybe it has some inner meaning or he is on the edge of something great.
*Armin, when I go back to put balisters in I'll get a pic of the finished product.
*Hi all,This is really not that big off a deal, we run into it in relaminating all the time. i use a flush cut saw thats cuts it closer to edge (we actually leave at least 1/4 in. or more so as to have good meat to cut) and then finish ir with a file. Total time is less that 5 min.Jim B
*Unless I'm seriously missing something in Allen's picture, and I have a knack at this, after filing for % mins., how many days are you going to have in formica puttying that edging. Hey, I do agree, it's not Number 1 in the Hall Of Shame, Greg Brown's kitchen's got that spot...
*Jim, That router bit was a small ogee......your going to file 4 inches of ogee?
*I knew I missed sumpin...
*I hope you mean the tile in greg brown's kitchen...
*It looks like he could shim the side of the counter to match the offset of the verticle end piece so the router base doesn't hit it. Then with the router base resting on the side of the countertop, sneak up on matching that ogee with the bearing resting on the top of the counter. Careful not to burn it & it is still going to have to stop somewhere. Maybe he had planned to stop it right where it is? Are you thinking it should run off the end? Joe H
*Joe,My pic doesn't show the scope of the screwup very well, I should have tried a close up. If you see an ogee edge on a countertop you assume it would go to the edge but definately not filed off flat the last 4 ".
*well golly gee... if he has an offset fitting for his router base (a laminate trimmer set-up)... he can get clsoer to the wall... but eventually he's got to do some hand work...files.. close cut saws..belt sanders..sharp chisels.. they all come into play...but the router will only get you so far... so..where's the problem ?... lets see the finished product ... then we can tear him a new assh*le...hah, hah, hah...
