How do you go about laying oak strip flooring over a concrete slab? Can I put a plywood subfloor over the slab and then go over that with the strip flooring? Many thanks.

That works, since you can nail to the ply. Or you can glue the oak directly to the slab, if it is engineered wood (aka plywood).
Do it right, or do it twice.
Is 3/4" ply enough of a subfloor or will it require more?

Do you need to put a vapor barrier between the slab and the ply? and also between the ply and the oak?
Doug
I don't know , do I?

Coldbond mastic skim coated over concrete. Broom 6 mil plastic over skim coat. Apply 1/4 x 1/4 x 1/4 coldbond mastic to plastic. Lay minimum 5/8 CDX into glue. Nail with 1 1/4" concrete nails 10" on center, 1 1/2" nails for 3/4 cdx. Plywood needs to be below 10% moisture content. Stay away from HD. Go to a lumber yard that houses their ply inside. The lower the moisture level the better. Sand plywood joints level, lay out 15 lb. felt and then nail the floor. GW
