I’m going to install an octagon window on a side wall of a new kitchen bump. Is there a standard height for this or do I just go by eye level? Also, should window open casement-style or awning-style? It seems to me it should open awning-style but that would put the handle on one side instead of the bottom. Thanks in advance for any input.

Maybe match the top with other outside head trim?....and unless an overhang above...go awning. Or let it get wet if ya have it open in the rain...casement style.
Thanks for the reply, I already installed it today at eye level (which looks better from the inside, whereas head level would have looked better from the outside). I was just wondering if there was some kind of standard for octagons. Also, I ended up installing it awning-style, but it just seems strange that the handle ends up on the top left corner (I hope it won't interfere with opening my cabinet door). Again, I'm wondering if there's a standard, because it seems if they were meant to open awning-style, they would be sold left or right-handed. BTW, I called the place where I purchased the window, they say they have no idea but follow the directions (there are none). This place sells nothing but windows and doors for at least 20 years that I know of. Am I the only dummy that ever asked this question?
Ya got me..I've installed them (all fixed) and went by the 'plans' never asked about them being operable. Sounds like a side opener, or a hopper tho' by the handle config.
Whatever works for you tho is what matters...not a dumb question at all..enjoy your window!
