I am taping a large room where the ceiling goes up on an angle and meets the top horizontal portion of the ceiling. This off-angle where the two seams of the drywall meet is approximatly 25 feet long. I took extra care to get the drywall straight so the finished line would be as straight as possible when it’s finished. In between coats of joint compound I used a chalk line from one end of the off-angle to the other to make sure im still in line. I had applied joint compound one 14″ knife blade at a time to both side of the chalk line and repeated this where needed (very time consuming). The ceiling line looks ok but it seems like it can still be improved. I was wondering if anyone had tricks or techniques on how they do this and get the line as straight as possible. Ive been in many homes over the years and have noticed if there is an off-angle ceiling line cut, its usuall awefull but some I have seen look almost perfectly straight. Just wonder how to improve it. Thanks

A lamp dimmer works wonders (unless all you have in the room is CFLs).
Where I used to use the metal backed paper corner............
I now use the plastic flexible angle with a pretty wide flange.
From Trim-tex http://www.trim-tex.com
Adjustible inside corner is one- 4310M
or Magic Corner expansion bead......J010
Comes lengths-or in a 250 roll.
Chalk your line-spray adhesive-press to the line-mud it up.
Can't get any straigher than that.
Thanks Calvin for the advice. I saw the video demonstration on the magic corner expansion bead and it seems pretty good. I actually bought a 250 ft roll today. Going to use it in the morning. Thanks again.
Good luck Steve
And another tip if you have a line laser.
A straight line is the ticket, a level line is the creme de la creme.
Either chalk it nice and straight or use a line laser to perhaps get it level too. Come time that it goes over a window or you hang something below that nice crisp corner, it'll pay for itself.
Maybe not on this corner, but you've got a couple hundred feet left................
Best of luck.
thanks again Calvin
I sanded and painted the ceiling this morning where I installed the "magic corner expansion bead" on Friday morning and it came out great. I never had such a straight line before on an off angle, especially a 25 foot long angle. More importantly, the customer loved it and is very happy. Thanks again for your advice Calvin. Much appreciated.
You're welcome Steve
