We are going to have to buy a new office phone system. Third one in seven years. Grumble
We need a system with at least six phones, basic small office type system.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what brand is good?

I bought a NEC DS1000 with 4-port voice mail system a couple of years ago. It's worked quite well for us. Bought it from http://www.telephonesystemsdirect.com. They sell a preconfigured system where the PBX is premounted on a board and wired to a labeled 66 punch block. If you're comfortable doing the wiring then it isn't a bad choice.
That a lot of phone systems in seven years. Most of our customers (who stay in business long enough, or don't outgrow them) keep their phone systems for 8 to 10 years. I'm partial to Panasonic digital phone systems - I would be since it's the only brand that we sell.
No matter what you buy, a good dealer who knows the system will make the biggest difference in your satisfaction. I frequently get calls from Panasonic customers who have had slash-and-dash installs, where it's pretty clear that the dealer took the check and ran to the next install.
For a system the size of yours, the Panasonic KX-TDA50 system might be a good choice, possibly paired up with the Panasonic KX-TVA50 voice mail system. If you decide to go with a Panasonic system and need advice on configuration or features, feel free to ask.
