I was at work today & a new guy.. Just starting out his carpenters apprenticeship. He asked if anyone had heard of Milwakee tools. “YOu know.. the red ones.” He had been looking at the Home Depot flier & saw that they had a good selection of them. Geesh.. We all got a good laugh out of that one after we asked him if he was kidding or not.
Ahh.. To be young again..

Being relativly new to carpentry myself (although a little drier behind the ears than your young friend) I found a quick way to tell how trustworthy a carpenter I am learning from is by how straight he can stand up. I never trust a carpenter who can walk fully upright.
*then you never met a carpenter who had his ass kicked by a drill instructor...""" stand up straight, suck it in... pull those shoulders back""yada , yada, yada...
*you got your up straight days, & you got your no so up straight days-feels like today is gonna be the latter. I'm sure I am much more pleasent to work with on the former. such is life...
*Ted, that brought a smile, but I hope the kid was laughing with you. You want to keep them asking questions, eventually they may surprise you.The kids are our biggest investment, tools are cheap. They both can break, but only the kids make you smile. And the red ones are the Milkwalkies? Damn, I thought the blue ones were the M tools.
*Dustin, You can trust me with your life, your wife, your money and above all YOUR TRUCK!Go easy on the new guy - you'll need him to carry plywood up on to the roof for you. Encourage him he's asking good questions - he cares about having good tools instead of just having tools or worse - borrowing yours.
