We just put in a red oak select 2 1/4 x 3/4 hardwood floor. How long would you leave it down before sanding and finishing it? Also, which would you use, the water base or oil base finish. We are leaving it natural so we are not using a stain. We think we would like to use the water base because we have heard the oil yellows after time, but have also heard that the water base is not as durable as the oil. Please let me know your thoughts on this matter and anything else you think could help! thanks, Lisa |

It can be sanded and coated as soon as it has been laid but it should be acclimatised for at least a week before installation.
A waterbase such as Bona Kemi's Traffic is as durable as any oil-based coating with the added advantage that it is comparatively odorless and UV resistant.
