The other thread about OSB prices made me thing about this:
Plumber and vinyl siding guy are raising their prices saying that their material is going up and it’s caused by oil prices. Sounds logical… Anyone know anything specific?
I know lumber prices are going down… but I think that is being solely driven by the supply and demand (or lack there of) of a soft home sales market.
Here, builders are struggling to stay afloat and I’m guessing lumber suppliers are taking it on the chin too. When does this filter over to the other industries? Will Charlotte Pipe cut their prices or at least absorb some raw material price increases just to make sales and keep product moving? I guess most subs would rather stay home than cut their pay… ?

With over 1500 employees & 192 million in annual sales Charlotte pipe is going to adjust prices to market conditions.
Yes the crude price has affected all petroleum based product pricing, as it also affects shipping costs.
The company is not "slow" due to some new housing shortages in various areas , as some areas are booming with projects that are eating up materials.

I thought we were in a depression? The way our politicians and media talk
If it bleeds it leads, & doom & gloom or the news gets boring.

Do you see a lot of Charlotte pipe DWV there on the west coast? It's about all we see here, but I thought maybe that was just because it's "right down the road".
What is your assesment of the current cost of plumbing supplies? Don't worry - it's not gonna effect your plumbuddy :-). I already agreed to his pricing for the current houses...
Yup we see quite a bit from Charlotte, Canplas is our other major supplier of plastic pipe & fittings.
Costs have been going up for quite a while.
Copper has shot through the roof---- better investment than gold over the last few years.
Plastic is way up as well.
Cast iron had a moderate increase, but not nearly the scale that copper & plastic have shot up.
