I’ve asked about it before and now its here…the HUGE slowdown in the market. Home sales and starts here in Florida are at an all time low. In this one new development near my area, there were 310 new homes built in the last 12 months and 267 of them are still available! Yikes!
So whats a small company like ours to do? We are doing small jobs like this 150 sq ft addition we are doing but now these jobs are hard to get as so many guys are now willing to do them. We always have been as I like them but now its cut throat.
Anyone else seeing a slowdown in their area?
I might have to go out and get a real job! 😉

You were making hay while the sun was shining, right? You didn't use all that new money to increase your standard of living now, did you? Now you just have to live on the savings you've been socking away and ride it out.

Seriously, I bet it is getting ugly in that market. Many will suffer, contractors, suppliers, mfgs, etc. I don't know what to say except that some areas of FL are still doing OK. Go back to the core FL market of retirees, maybe? My dad just moved to the villages - still building 400 homes a month I hear.

Unfortunatley, I was working for the local municipality when the sun was shining its brightest and was stuck indoors not getting any of the rays. <G>
You are right, some of the areas (The Villages) are still building away. I guess thats because the money and long term plans were already developed and they can't stop now. I really don't know...
Its going to be an interesting next coupld of months (years?)...
