I have an old carriage house that we use as a two car garage. It is 24′ X 24′ and has a double wooden tongue and groove fir floor. Under the garage is a full cellar. I would like to make a workshop under the garage but the floor from above leaks water from the cars when it rain or snows. I am looking for ideas on how to waterproof the floor so the water does not drip thru. The floor is on full 2 x 12’s 16″ on center. I have thought about the “car mats” that can hold water but am afraid of the equipment that will be in the lower cellar getting ruined. Any ideas ?? Thanks jpp

The next level is here.... Turning.
a fairly simple way would be to run a layer of ice&water shield over the T&G floor, and then screw down a layer of CDX ply on that. You could paint the ply to keep it looking nice.
It might not keep out 100% of the water, but I would think it would be pretty close to that.
