I own a home that is approximately 60 years old. The original windows are still in the home and in good shape other than needing paint. The windows are wood panes with wood dividers to create individual smaller windows. I need to locate a company that deals with older type windows because I would like to replace the springs that are part of each window. Any references would be greatly appreciated.

blaine window and door hardware. hagerstown, maryland. they should be able to help.
*I'm just curious as to what type of a spring you have in a 60 year old window. The only one I can think of is the small one that is sometimes used to connect the sash cord to the sash, and that never seems to wear out. If they are somehow lost, a knot usually does the trick, combined with a fence staple, maybe. If it is anything else, you might try http://www.vandykes.com They have just about anything for the restorer, and the prices are not so bad as some of these outfits.
*I doubt if those are the original windows; I don't see windows with spings in them from that period; they're probably replacement windows. It's entirely possible, if not likely, that your windows were locally manufactured and you might need to source the parts you need locally.Go to the b goodhardware store in your area; the one that the other hardware stores send you to when they don't have what you need, and ask there. Take some detail photos or good drawings along.Or, call an independant window installer to take a look and advise. (In my experience, the big replacement window companies only want to do one thing - sell you new windows.) Pay him/her for the time. They might even have the parts you need - some of them are pack rats!
