I have searched and Googled to no avail, even used the advanced search here.
I have a project coming up that needs some stainless GRK RSS lags. Several sizes. Local yards don’t carry the full line.
Anyone know of an outfit that sells ’em mailorder/online? GRK only works through dealers, which I respect.
Thanks in advance.
Bill

Grainger? Fastenal? They might have'em.
New knowledge is priceless.
Used knowledge is even more valuable.

I almost ordered from these folks, but wound up special ordering GRK through my lumber yard. Worked out slightly cheaper ($5-$10) through the yard.
From the research I did, these are compatible with GRK's stuff.
That is nice stuff, but they don't show the PHeinox (tm) hardened stainless steel star drive lags I am looking for. I think it has got to be GRK, not another vendor.Bill

Gotcha. I skipped right over the stainless part in your first post. Proprietary spec, eh? Might want to e-mail GRK directly, they should be able to steer you in the right direction (especially for SS fasteners).
Good luck.
Usually if the yard carries a portion of the line, they can order any specific product you need. This is obvious and you've probably already asked, right?

Nick,Yes, I knew that already. The ease of ordering online is much greater than through the yard. I can do it direct, and from home. Nobody else has to "interpret" my order; no one in the middle to transpose a number or to relay messages back and forth if availability/lead time are issues.I prefer to deal directly with the stocking distributor, to talk directly with someone who can do a real physical inventory check before promising me delivery. When dealing with nonstandard stuff, a supply chain with the fewest links is best in my experience.Bill
Amen to that Brotha!
Many times I have the option of driving 20 minutes for the privaledge of talking to a crowd of azz scratchers to convince them to look up their suppliers for that obscure product I just read about in FHB or JLC... or I can just order it from a store in Kentucky who happens to have an online order form! Takes less time and agrivation over the web.
I spent about an hour and a half totla time trying to get GRK #9 1.5" pan head wood screws, just a small box, from a local lumber yard. A week later, I found another store that had them in stock on the shelf. I want that hour and a half of my life back, dang it!Rebuilding my home in Cypress, CA

Oh, good Lord, no. But I can give him two dollars and an assault rifle.
You might try Seven Corners at 1-800-328-0457. They don't list GRKs in their online catalog, but may carry them.
Update time.
Locally, none of the lumberyards even knew about GRK. Fastenal has some GRK stuff, and can order me what I need with delivery in < a week, and they can drop ship them to me. Looks like that is how I will go.
Bill
Thanks for the update. I can get the full line from my regular lumberyard but i'm an infojunkie and was curious about that. because they are expensive, some yards are shy of stocking them, afraid they won't sell, but once people try them, there just isn't anything else! They sell themselves then

Do you call them "gee are kays" or "gurks?"
I love 'em too. They outperform pretty much every other fastener, from SS trim heads to lags to bugle heads.
I am slowly learning to call them G R KBut I was introduced to them when they first came from Germany to Canada. The Canadian manufacturer/distributor is GRK Canada so they are getting know by that name. Originally they were called Reisser screws, so that is how I name them and still enter in my billing etc.so with shingles, do you call one brand G A F or gaff?

G A F. And you have to pronounce the "A" with a nasal tone, a la Henry Fonda.

Same here but with a long A. Everywhere I ever worked in this country it was G A F, until I moved here and heard guys calling them gaffHow 'bout IKO shingles, is it I K O or eyecho?

Well, you must not remember the TV ads.And it "ick-o" to me. Why have a normal name, when with a little work you can make is sound nasty?

Piffin,I first used those screws when they were Reisser, and I have wondered if they were the same as the GRK, or another company. They are the best, no doubt about it.Question for you: Do you pay full list price for GRK stuff through the yard, or get a discount? If so, about what % discount? I wondered if GRK was like Festool as regards pricing. I need to special order about a thousand bucks (list) worth of their stuff later today. Thanks,
Bill
I always buy by the box or case. That price is better than the pound or the piece price, and yes I get a contractor's discount on them. I really don't know what that is compared to full list, would have to research that out.

Eycho
I can see where it could be confusing if you tell someone you are using "riser" (Reisser) screws for applications other than stairs.
Try http://www.fastenerplace.com , don't know if this link will work, but it is the right URL.
They are listing PHEinox, hardened stainless, RSS from GRK in sizes from 1/4 x 1-1/2" to 5/16"x6". Did not go deep enough to find prices.
Good luck.
Jim
Never underestimate the value of a sharp pencil or good light.
Thanks Jim,It looks like they don't have prices on their site. I'll call them tomorrow. They list the whole GRK line. If they also stock it all, I'll probably order from them. If not, then maybe Fastenal, since they have a local outlet near me.Bill
My yard doesn't stock the entire line, but if GRK makes it, they can ususally have it within a couple of days, though a whole pack is usually the minimum.
