I need to replace a shower/tub control valve that is behind ceramic tile. I’ve seen some replacements done by removing a minimum amount of tile/sheetrock and covering the opening with a chrome plate/cover. I’ve searched Lowes and HD but can’t find one. Anyone know where I can get one? Thanks….Joe

I'm thinkin' you'll need a real plumbing supplly house for that one. I dont know where you're located at. Fill in the profile and if someone here lives by you i'm sure you'll get suggestions.

Joe,
Our local big boxes carry the plates which cover the old holes from twin faucet and diverters. I would try 1) local plumbing supply house or 2) the new valve's manufavcturer's web site as most of the plates I have installed came from the same manufacturer as the valve ( google away!)

Never underestimate the value of a sharp pencil or good light.
If you replace it with a quality valve, the escutcheon plate should be large enough to cover a cutout large enough to access components of the valve for future replacement.
An alternative (not always possible), is to provide a removeable access on the other side of the wall in which the valve is mounted.
