I saw a product at the JLC-Live show in Providence that I would describe as an I joist designed for use as a stud. It is made of nominal 2 by 2’s separated by a thin (1/4″ ?) OSB webbing. The webbing was not continuous to allow for running wires and pipes. The top and bottom were solid wood to allow for trimming. The advantages are reduced thermal bridging, and increased wall thickness (and insulation space) for a marginal increase in price. Has anyone used these? Who makes them? Any other tips, advantages, disadvantages?
