Hey fellas, I am in the process of building my addition onto my cabinet shop. I was going to use 1/2 osb instead of drywall on the walls and then painting it.
Will this present a problem with harmful vapors in the air?
Thank you, Lou

OSB in a cabinet shop? Given all the products you'd use to build cabinets, I'd suspect that the potential for OSB gasses would be WAY down the list of concerns.

Depending on how new the OSB is there might be mild gassing for a short time then aroma wise it's over.
Or screw nailers tween studs for wherever yer planning to hang the cabinets and tools is that's the reason for the OSB over drywall.
If yer going with OSB prime with an oil base as latex primer will rough the OSB.
I used osb on my shop walls, smooth side towards room. No outgassing that I ever noticed. I never painted my shop walls as I have a lot of windows. I prefer the rustic look.If you do paint the walls try this, size the wall first with glue size. I have not tried this, just a suggestion to try on a piece of scrap. I have a feeling the paint job will be better and you will use less paint. Glue size is watered down type of hide glue.
Painters and paperhangers sometimes use glue size on new drywall or plaster.

I saw partitions built in a clothing store. The partitions were made of OSB and 2x4s with a clear coat of varnish on them. They looked rather nice and rustic in a way... this was in an "upscale" clothes store at the time.
