I have 3 large round outdoor columns on the front of my house, approx 16″ dia. by 15 FT high. The bottom is slighly flared out, which is a perfect place for water and snow to sit, which has now caused some sections to rot. Nothing bad yet, but I am wondering what I can use to cover the wood to make it last longer so I don’t need to repaint every 2 years or whatever. I called around to aluminum siding installers, and everyone says they can’t do round columns. Replacing or covering the whole column with aluminum is too costly. Another option is to use some sort of formable “stuff” (concrete, plastic, plaster, ???) that I could spread over the wood at the bottom that would then last a long long time. Any ideas?
