Outlet & timer -how close to shower door
Bathroom, new construction, all walls open at present time.
Bathroom is not huge – tiled shower at one end, then toilet, then vanity w/ single sink. Sort of a “galley” configuration.
Planning one 20A circuit to feed the entire bathroom. Over sink light bar, one outlet at the vanity, vent fan / light combo over the shower.
Power enters the room at the outlet over the vanity where it is fed to a GFCI which in turn provides protection to all other electrical devices in the bathroom.
In addition to above, owner would like to have 1) an outlet available in front of the toilet for a foot bath of some sort and 2) a wall box mounted timer to control the vent fan (located in the shower, listed as approved for this use if GFCI protected).
The way the bathroom is configured the desired locations for the outlet and timer is only a few feet from the shower door. (Both of these devices are GFCI protected)
I agree the owner’s placement would be very handy for them – what is the minimum spacing from the shower? I seem to think it is 3′ but can’t confirm as my NEC book has mysteriously disappeared – I have a suspect or two…….
Meanwhile – help!
Thanks in advance.

As long as they are not in "tub space" they are OK. Farther is better but it could be right outside the shower door.
Thanks, HO's ideal location is about 2' outside of the door to the shower. Outlet would be directly below at "normal" outlet hieght.

Never underestimate the value of a sharp pencil or good light.
On my last bathroom remodel, I placed the spring loaded timer just above the TP holder, where it reminds each sit-down user of the vent fan and can be easily reached standing up, before or after showering, as well.
I suppose that it would be a simple matter to place an outlet in the same stud bay, below the TP holder.
Thanks. Sort of the same placement idea. Except the timer will be at eye level on the wall directly in front of the seated toilet user - gives them something to look at!
