A year ago I primed a newly installed drywall ceiling with Ben Moore alkyd primer and last week patched and primed it and the new walls with Ben Moore “First Coat” primer and enamal underbody. A week later painted ceiling with Ben Moore latex ceiling paint and paint blisters while I’m painting. Blister have no water behind them and paint and primer can be peeled off. Not every where just in certain places. I peeled and scraped paint and patched with drywall compound. Some more paint blisters. It was a humid day, was that the cause? Also, how do I fix this? It is a bathroom and I afraid that it will peel in the future.

I have my own suspicions but I'd try http://www.benjaminmoore.com .......they have a question and anwser section on their web site. On the can there should be a 1-800 number that you can call .....Benjamin Moore has an excellent technical service department ....they should be of help. Good Luck!
*Was the ceiling not primed but not painted for an entire year? Did you clean &/or abrade the surface before priming (this year) to ensure adhesion? Mildew?Does your bathroom have a fan?
*The same thing happened to me while painting the diningroom in the spring, in dry weather. The lab at Para told me that it was probably caused by the original primer being applied too soon after the drywall was hung. It was only in a few spots though and was fine after repairing with drywall compound.Beatrix
