Soon, I will be volunteered to paint the aluminum gutters ay mom’s house. They are in good working condition, just not so nice finish wise. Current color is white, and that is what I will try to stay with.
There’s about 150 feet of them on the ranch home, so I was thinking about using an automotive type paint sprayer to achieve a nice finish in a reasonable amount of time.
Besides washing the dirt off, are there any pointers in achieving a durable finished product?

I had white aluminum gutters that looked very bad - stained black with mold, dirt. Scrubbed them with Comet cleanser and a Scotchbrite pad and they now look like new.
just wash them well if yur gonna stay with the white...
simple green seems to work well....
there's a ton of cleaners out there to try and see what works best for you...
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming
WOW!!! What a Ride!
Forget the primal scream, just ROAR!!!
I am going to try washing them first, but the inquiry is just in case washing doesn't work out so well.

I'll second the simple green approach. use it straight not diluted and you'll be amazed at what it can do. the build up of dirt and mold is actually protecting the underlying original finish on the gutters.
if you do paint them good chance -if not guaranteed- that you just added a maintenance item to your honey-do list. peeling paint is one that comes to mind. I know someone that did it and now he regrets it.
