I am building an addition and I want to match as close as possible the look of the existing windows. Can the flanges/ J-trim be painted on the new vinyl windows? My supplier says you can?t paint vinyl windows. A painter told me that he has painted vinyl siding with latex paint no problem but has never painted the actual window. I am wondering if paint will stay on the window frames as they are much smoother than vinyl siding?

Nothing you haven't heard yet....I also have painted vinyl siding with no problem but unfortunately never had to paint windows.....Do you want to paint the inside or outside of these windows? I would imagine the inside should hold up not being exposed to the elements and all.
Talk with a reputable paint supplier....about 10 years ago I used a high-end latex paint on my aluminum framed windows. Did this to mathc them to our vinyl siding - was I sorry! Paint in the jambs never seemed to dry. Every time we open the windows (casement), the frames stick to the jambs. Perhaps an oil or acrylic paint wouldn't have brought on this problem? - Not sure, but next time I'll ask the professionals first!
