Can I use a panel adhesive for sub-floor without having to back it up with finish mails until it cures?
Any preferences for class or type of adhesive: regular, heavy duty or polyurathane — flooring purposes ?

exactly what are you trying to do Tedd?
*Want to put down plywood as a finished floor. So I don't want to have nails or screws blemish the surface. Was wondering if I can get away with just an adhesive (except for nailing the tongues)?
*And you're going to go over an existing sub-floor?
*That would be gents and gentresses, there are ladies here also. And you're going to go over an existing sub-floor?
*I think that for this application I'd use a trowel applied adhesive. If the plywood goes down flat the adhesive should be sufficient. (Presuming there is existing subfloor/sheathing.)
*I agree, Mike, BUT if someone wants to take the plywood up later to install a "conventional" finished floor, woe be to them!Adhesively, Steve

Actually, I am talking about ply panel to wood joist connection. Can I use an adhesive with out any other fasteners ?

No. Mechanical fasteners are required. Your best bet will be to use very carefully applied screws, with the heads either set flush and allowed to show or counter sunk and filled. Finish nails will not do.
