Paperhanging non-woven paper, how hard
Ahem. Paperhanging is not a popular topic on this board, but here goes. I ain’t no paperhanger but I am a good painter, plasterer and finisher.
I’ve got 8000 s.f. of wall and ceiling that needs finishing, and for various reasons I need to canvas the walls first and paint.
So then I discovered this non-woven stuff from Erfurt, much cheaper than canvas or the other paintable paper on my market here. They’re saying non-woven wallpaper is the next big thing, and Erfurt’s promo emphasizes that it’s very eco-friendly and DIY-friendly. Also, Tim Carter has a video up on YouTube that shows him laying the stuff with a huge grin on his face.
It looks very easy and fast. Anybody got experience with this non-woven paper? Am I going to knock myself out taking on an 8000 s.f. job cold?

I don't know the specific product, but I do know that nanotech has been producing some paper so strong that Arnold Schwarzenegger himself couldn't fight his way out of a paper bag made with it.
Key to an easy time hanging wp is having a true flat surface, so wall prep is important. After that - it is all about patience and a sharp knife.
Oh yeah - ceilings are not really a one man job

Wall prep, yes. We're using non-tapered sheetrock with chamfered edges, so the amount of prep work should be a lot less than taping. They claim that the real speed benifit of the non-woven paper is that you can just roll the glue out on the entire wall and stick your sheets to that, without gluing them on a table. And if you make an error the stuff just peels off the wall and you re-stick it. Peel n stick.
