I’m working on finishing a room in my basement, using techniques from this site and other sources being mindful of mold prevention and have a question on the choice of gypsum board.
The two choices I’ve seen most are as follows:
USG’s Fiberock brand Aqua-Tough (totally unfaced)
and
Georgia-Pacific’s DensArmor (fiber-matted)
Has anyone used either of these and have any recommendations?
Thanks.

My Father used Hardi Backer as an alternative to gyprock in his basement as he does get flooded if the sump pump stops for what ever reason.
Painted up to look just like gyproc.
DensArmor: I worked with it once and never again! It's exterior gyp sheating in white. Have not tried the USG brand. Try National Gypsum's the purple one..foprget the name.
I think I used denshield once. At the time it was heavily advertised as a substitute for cement board in showers. I did not agree and switched to hardiebacker or durock. But, for an occassioanl we area like a launry room or basement I think it would be a good choice. Be sure to use setting=type joint compound rather than all purpose, and use fiberglass tape in place of paper tape.
