I am just about finished my house – hardi plank on the main level, but I still have bare ICFs on the walkout basement side. Other options are too expensive right now, and the bank won’t release funds until it looks “finished”. Does anyone have experience parging on foam blocks? Would a little Acryl 60 make it stick, or am I looking at cracks and falling parge in 2 years.
I thought of hardi-panels, but I don’t think they can touch soil…
Thoughts? Suggestions?

use a fine sand & portland mix to make stucco 3-4 parts sand to 1 part portland could toss in about 1/2 part lime makes it easier to finish and work for me anyway..(i'd use white portland) get the nylon/plastic mesh that is used for fake stucco embed into your stucco as you go... you can do this in one coat and it won't look bad... you can get it real slick if you want... or you can use Dwall or plaster over it... or just leave it...

There are premixed base coats for the EIFS systems.
Loaded with polymers for around $30 per bag, use that
and the fiberglass mesh. Two fold benefit:
Encapsulates the ICF (fire safety) and allows for
a finish coat down the road. STO, Dryvit, Senergy or
any of the others would work.
I guess it depends on your budget, but the fact is
that they will stick and not flake off....

Great ideas - I've never mixed stucco - ponytl this is an exterior wall I am describing - i'll price your option and the eifs if I can find it. If I get good enough results I might take it indoors as well.
I've never seen the eifs stuff at my masonry supplier, but I'll ask.
