Hi Robert,
When in the states we used a product called “STO”
It is a elastomeric two or three coat process that
can be used over styrofoam. It has a solid color
finish with many textures and if you need it, a
really good waterproof base coat. You mix the base
coats with portland cement and parge it over a
mesh that is part of thier process. It has held up
well and still looks good after 11 yrs.

I have a residential home on a quiet street in down town toronto (Canada?) that requires either a massive pointing job or a complete resurface. I am considering a mortar & metal lath solution with a top coat of tinted stucco. However, I've seen crews gluing sheets of rigid insulation to the stucture prior to applying a coat of mortar... Is there a preffered method?
*Robert, I don't recall the product name you are mentioning but it is primarily used on commercial projects all over America. We installed it on my parents Hotel in northern Ontario, and had excellent results. The installers were able to follow my details and designs pretty much to the letter. The system uses 2" insulation, 4" around windows(by our designs), fibreglass tape, scratch coat, and finish coat(with colour). Sounds like a durable choice for a residential building. Have a good design in mind when negociating.
