My Paslode framer, (air type) has begin to shoot blanks. For years it never missed a beat, but recently it started missing every 50 nails or so, then it get worse, and now it’s 1 nail for every 10 misses.
Strangely it seems better with a full compressor, (as opposed to just before cycling on at 80 psi), and when I pull the stick of nails back and pry the tip of the first nail from the second, it will miss a shot but invariably shoot the second pull. Weird.
In any case, I had to dig out some normal nails and thats just out of control!
So, is this an “Oh you need the XIR ring seal kit” kinda deal, or should I rush it off to Paslode service??? (And if so, any recommnedations?)
Thanks!

Sounds like you may have some bad boxes of nails, maybe left outside in the weather or got wet somehow. I oil my magazine slide once in a while that seemed to help as well.
Up here we also have problems with guns, hoses freezing up. Put them next to some heat and they thaw out. Just started use air tool anti-freeze this seemed to help as well.
I had thought about that, but as the problem has been getting worse, thru the same box of Paslode nails, I had dismissed it. The problem has been happening completely indoors and the nails have seen no rain or even humidity, and look perfect. And they seem to slide without binding or friction up and down the slide.Jake Gulick

Sounds like you may have to have the gun put under the knife, I have used Paslode framing guns for about 6 years now and have had that problem with bad nails or the magazine not pushing the strips of nails into the chamber fast enough or at all. Sorry couldn't be more help. Have you tried nails from a different box?
I had the same exact issue. It's the most frustrating thing imaginable. I know!
I was told that it is caused by a bend or deflection in the magazine. Any slight twist in the mag causes the nails to not feed correctly. I can't see a problem with mine, but something's wrong nonetheless.
I solved the problem finally by buying a Hitachi NR83A2. I got so fed up with the Paslode that I stopped trusting it.
Hmmmmm...I'd like to avoid THAT option, LOL.
When it misfires, I sight up the slot, and there seems to be a nail primed and ready to fire, but when it fires, it leaves a mark from the hammer, or piston, so something is missing there.
I will take a look at it and make sure it's all aligned and totally frictionless.Jake Gulick
