I have an outdoor concrete patio 14 x21 about 4″ thick that was built at different times. 4′ x 6′ sections were separated by 2 x 4’s that I dug out. Part drains, part doesn’t. I want to pave it with 18″ ceramic tile and be sure it drains because outdoors it will get dirty. Two major questions:
One: Along the 14′ side how should I figure drainage. 1″ to zero?
Two: How thin (thick) must the underlying concrete (to create drainage) be so as not to prevent problems once the tiles are added? Do I need any reinforcing wire if its thin (thin is better). Thanks all.
and three: will filling in the spaces caused by 2 x 4’s cause me any grief.

As Brownbaggie will say:
Jackhammer.
One: 14/8". IOW 1 3/4". In Still Other Words: 1/8" per foot.
Two: can you expand the question? As stated it shows some misunderstanding.
