You may want to check with the main library in your area -- mine has a historical book section where they have a number of old pattern books. I was even able to find the one with the plan for my own 1913 house in it. :-)
another option is Hull Historical. Their catalog I believe is $20 and has all kinds of pictures, scematics, etc of noteworthy interior architectural styles from famous / semi-famous buildings.

i think the books piffin is talking about " the american vignola","the american builders companion", " the architect,or practical,house carpenter". dover publications just happens to be in my neck of the woods the address is ......

your correct, they have from my count from the front and back cover of the book they have 47 titles of architecture/building. and up to 200 titles "fine
art,music,crafts,needleworkantiques,languagesliterature,antrop ology, etc., etc., my favorite is " ten books of archtecture" by vitruvius , and the four books of arcitecture by andrea palladio. and i remember being pretty amazed the majority of the porportions of the front facade were done off the the fractions of the diameter of the base of columns in the front facade. i would assume that theme runs through out. ..

Thanks to all. Dover is a great resource. The project at hand is to build a couple of pediments over front doors on a small cottage.
