Anyone have experiece with “peel and stick” membranes for flat roofs? 1/4″ over 1′
I can get 15yr 1 ply and 20yr 2ply seems too easy or should i stick with EPDM, its to be placed over an unheated garage with a new plywood deck.
Any takers?
Thanks.

There's a "peel and stick" roof for flat roofs?
The only "peel and stick" I know of is for use as ice dam protection of roof edges and that can be used as flashing around skylights and windows.

I guess its relatively new, from what I hear its similiar to ice and water but does not have to be covered and has a granular surface.
1 roll covers about 100 s.f for the one ply and costs about 70$ can., 2 ply comes in at 50 s.f. and is around 65$ canadian dollars.
As wel,l you need to prepare the deck with a primer that is about 90 bucks for 5 gallons and covers approx 500s.f.
Anyone used it? I don't want to be the test case, hehe.
Cheers.
I have used this product, almost 5 years ago. It was the one-ply, on a lean to with about a 1 1/2 " pitch. When I used it, you did not need a primer so I can't say what that is like. Two of the reasons I used it was I could do it by myself with no help and to try it, to see if it would last so far so good. The product I used is called Henry Lo-Slope http://www.henry.com, 1-800-486-1278.

I have used a material like that from Polyglass called elastoflex sa, many times and we like it a lot. Certainteed now has a similar product available in some areas.
Basically it is a self adhering modified bitumen product. In very hot weather I have used it without primer, and in somewhat cooler temps WITH primer.I believe you can also use this product as a 2 ply system using a fully adhered base sheet---although we have not used that application.
Although I prefer EPDM,the elastoflex sa is sometimes a bit more cost effective on certain roof configurations due to material waste factors with EPDM. Also the elastoflex gives you better aesthetics with several color choices available.
with proper deck prep---its a simple installation----very similar to icegaurd installation, with the same problems during hot weather installations.
I have done quite a few roofs with a product similar to the one you are describing with good results. The name of the product I use is Resito or Soprema. A two ply system is used for roofs 1/8 in 12 and up and a single ply membrane for 1 in 12 and up. A wider and thicker gauge drip edge is used so the membrane has a good seal around the perimeter. I also used the primer and personally do not think it is necessary in some cases but is a nice guarantee of good adherence. It is very versatile and installs fairly well. I precut my lengths, leave them unrolled for a while and peel as I roll it on. Just be careful laying it down proper, once it is down it is very hard to fix. It will rip the plywood up sometimes when trying to take it back up!
They have a good users manual: http://www.resisto.ca
