Good Afternoon all, first time here, in the business 25+ years, subscriber since ’87
We purchase, renovate and resell existing homes throughout chicago/burbs and oftentimes this means we are abating fire, smoke, nicotine, pet and other undesirable odors, including an occasional corpse.
This project was inhabited by 22 cats and 6 dogs prior to our purchase so we approached it with both guns drawn. The interior was gutted down to the studs<frame const>, an enzyme based odor eliminator was applied multiple times, allowed to dry thoroughly<6 mos. sitting time while completing other projects> and then shot with 2 coats original KILZ primer. We began construction 2/8/04 and just finished taping. Upon completion of taping<lots of rock, major gasout, very hi humidity in chicago last 3 weeks> the smell has resurfaced. Running the heat seems to make it worse and the a/c is not yet installed, although I suspect the dehumidification will help. I do not want this to come back and haunt my purchaser.
Did I miss something here, or perhaps this is the first time I’ve had this much humidity hanging around this long. I’d really appreciate any feedback you might have. By the way, the house sits on a block foundation with perimeter drainage system and concrete floor all in good shape.
Thanks in advance.

How did you seal the concrete?

Calvin,
lets see, 25 years in the business and other than kilz overspray, the only coating on the concrete floor is ages old peeling oil based floor enamel. As if I expected the pets only peed on the main level.
Other than making me feel as if I'm an imbecile, thanks for the painfully obvious advice.

Thanks Again.
