those two species don't ring my chimes for pickeling....the graining is wrong...
use an oil base finish... thin it.. wipe it on... let it flash .. wipe it off...
finish with a clear finish...
try some samples first.. like inside the cabinet..

*there are "pickling" products on the market. Try one if your unsure about diluted paint, and yes, do a sample first.
