Pier foundtion for TimberFrame pavilion

I’m overseeing the construction of an outdoor Timber Frame pavilion for my community. It will be and open 30′ X 40′ structure. There will be 9 columns, including one in the center. Rather than build an entire foundation, I’d like to consider pouring concrete piers for each of the columns. Is this cricket? If so, how big do they need to be? I assume for depth, they would need to go to the frost line. Any insight is greatly aprpeciated.

That is doable, but I don't know what your abilities are. Do you have acess to an engineer or architect who could donate a couple hours of time for a community project?
The piears need top be strong enough to handle the load to be placed on them, along with the live laod too. They need to be sized to handle dispersing that load over the soils they will bear on so the designer needs to have an idea what that load bearing capacity is so this doesn't sink and settle.
And finally, the attachment hardware needs to resist wracking and the uplift of the winds that will act on the structure.
